How to make a fantasy map concept
Name the map type
Choose a continent, region, town, dungeon concept, or world overview, then name the visual tradition: parchment ink, illuminated manuscript, or top-down fantasy cartography.
Describe relative geography
Place major terrain in relation to other features: mountains in the north, a river flowing east, a port below the delta, or ruins beyond the forest.
Generate the visual concept
Treat labels, hexes, room geometry, distances, and coastlines as illustrative rather than exact. Add readable names and scale later in a map editor.
Download and finish

The generator can suggest coastlines, forests, mountain symbols, ruins, roads, compass roses, and decorative borders, but it is an illustration system rather than GIS or dungeon-design software. Written labels may be misspelled, hex grids may be uneven, room geometry may not be playable, and distances are not to scale. Add final names, measurements, routes, encounter grids, and accessibility details in a dedicated editor. Re-running the same prompt can also change the geography; upload a favorite result as a reference for a closer variation, but do not expect exact preservation. The PNG can be imported as a visual handout or VTT background after you set scale and grid manually.
